Skyworks Aviation is built on a legacy of precision, hard work, and deep roots in the agricultural community. While the Skyworks name represents the future, its foundation traces back to 1977, when McMillan Custom Service, Inc. was established in Waynesboro, Georgia. Over the decades, that operation grew into a trusted aerial application provider across Eastern Georgia and South Carolina, known for its reliability and commitment to farmers.

Today, Skyworks Aviation proudly carries that legacy forward — combining decades of experience with a modern, hands-on approach to agricultural aviation.

Our Story

Owner and operator Eric Tapley represents the next generation of that legacy. A commercial single- and multi-engine pilot with instrument, CFI, CFII, and MEI ratings, Eric brings both technical expertise and a lifelong passion for agriculture to every acre he serves.

Eric’s journey began on the ground in 2015 with McMillan Custom Service, where he loaded, fueled, and mixed crop protection products before earning his place in the cockpit later that same season. Over the next 10 years, he flew alongside Robbie McMillan, gaining invaluable hands-on experience and mastering the precision required in aerial application.

In 2025, Eric acquired the business and launched Skyworks Aviation, continuing the reputation built over nearly five decades while leading the operation into its next chapter.

Before aviation, Eric graduated from Burke County High School and attended Ogeechee Technical College, later working in agriculture as a ground applicator and truck driver operating sprayers, spreaders, and tender trucks. That experience gives him a full understanding of the industry — from the ground to the air.
